Juan Anes, P.Eng, M.Sc, B.Sc
With 29 years of experience ranging from concept, engineering and design through construction, process improvement, and operations, Mr. Anes is a confident professional that can effectively contribute, both as an individual and as part of a team, to the success of your organization. In addition to his strong technical understanding of the process, he has a detailed understanding of the financial and leadership requirements to help your company make critical decisions required to succeed. Mr. Anes has been a highly skilled technical resource that continuously communicated with company executives (CEO, CFO, VPs, etc). Mr. Anes has gained knowledge about CAPEX and OPEX for new projects and for existing mines as a product of his intense review of project details for new and existing operations such as the open pit Ajax and Sierra Gorda projects and for other operating mines such as Copper Mountain, Farallon Mining, El Salvador Division of Codelco, Candelaria mine, etc.
Mr. Anes has been Plant Manager, General Manager replacement, Manager Mineral Processing, Senior Metallurgist and Supervisor in different operations. He has extensive knowledge of the industry as he continuously analyzes benchmarking studies. He has analyzed OPEX spreadsheets for different companies which gives him an advantage to apply this knowledge for a new or for an existing project.
Mr. Anes is native in Spanish and fluent in English. He has Master Black Belt Six Sigma training and finished all of its MBA courses 15 years ago. His experience in technical aspects of mineral processing plus his knowledge of change management and businesses allowed Mr. Anes to lead two teams of people in different mining companies to achieve important revenue increases:
- It is estimated that at Kidd Creek Metallurgical site,in Timmins, Ontario, Canada, the Cu-Ni circuit was improved to produce 35% higher revenues when compared to the base line. These gains were achieved with minimal changes to the circuit.
- It is estimated that at Campo Morado site, in Guerrero, Mexico, the improvements helped to almost double company revenues. This was achieved by increasing processing capacity by about 50% over design. This circuit was also optimized in the flotation area allowing increasing Cu, Zn, Au and Ag recoveries.
Mr. Anes, together with the teams he has worked with, has demonstrated that an increase in grinding capacity doesn't implies sacrificing metals recoveries or concentrate grades. The room for improvement is so vast that any mine site can improve throughput, metal recovery and concentrate grades at the same time.
